There's a renewed emphasis on tag-team wrestling in WWE nowadays, thanks in no small part to the work of The New Day. As champs for almost a full calendar year, the trio have been a shining light for the division and have become one of the most exciting acts on television.

Kofi Kingston himself can remember a time when things were ever so slightly different. Previously a WWE Tag-Team Champion with the likes of Evan Bourne, R-Truth, and CM Punk, Kofi was pushed into numerous partnerships because creative didn't really have anything for him as a singles star. That was a widespread problem in the tag division for years.

On ESPN's new dedicated WWE website, Triple H granted an interview and said tag wrestling wasn't viewed as vital to the promotion because of dwindling numbers. A thin roster made it challenging for WWE to present a viable tag-team division, and that's why so many 'odd couple' tandems were formed and given runs with the belts.

Now, thanks to NXT, WWE enjoys an abundance of talent. The increased numbers have allowed them to once again focus on the duos division.
