10 Wrestling Facts We Didn't Know Last Week (Aug 5)
8. Booker T Implored Eric Bischoff To Put Him Back On WCW TV
Much could be learned from Booker T's appearance on 'Legends With JBL' this past week. The WWE Network-only interview was a fun one, but occasionally got serious. It was clear from watching the man's facial expression that the downfall of World Championship Wrestling is a source of much frustration for Booker.
Just months before WCW went to the wall and the promotion's scraps were picked clean by WWE, Booker was on the shelf nursing an injury. According to the man himself, he called Eric Bischoff and requested that he be put back on television. Running through Booker's mind was the idea that he wished to impress as much as he could should his current employer be vanquished.
Despite his injuries, he returned, and would eventually win the WCW World Title from Scott Steiner on the final episode of Monday Nitro. The then-WWF were interested in Booker, and he agreed to transfer over his contract to the company.
That would likely have happened even without those last few months, but Booker clearly believed being in the public eye gave him a better chance of employment.
