At both TLC 2017 and on a WWE house show in Birmingham, England on 7 November the same year, Kurt Angle became an honorary member of The Shield. The legend traded in his iconic singlet for some SWAT gear and replaced Roman Reigns to team with Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose.

He's still not sure it was the best move.

When speaking to Comicbook.com this week, Kurt admitted his hesitation over those Shield cameos. The TLC match was his first in WWE since 2006, and that didn't sit too well the the Olympian; Angle thought his very first match back in the company would be a marquee singles bout, not as part of a five-on-three melee.

To Kurt, this was Vince McMahon's way of protecting him. He'd been inducted into the WWE Hall Of Fame and given an on screen, non-wrestling role as Raw GM to placate him, all because McMahon wasn't sure Angle's body could handle the stress of wrestling.
