It's now a case of 'what might have been' for Alberto Del Rio in WWE. When the Mexican made his comeback at Hell In A Cell 2015, it seemed like he was poised to assume the role of top Latino star in the company. Sadly, shoddy booking decisions made that challenging.

Aligned with Zeb Colter, Del Rio never truly looked comfortable with the manager. Perhaps he would have been had original plans gone through. According to The Wrestling Observer this week, it was none other than Paul Heyman who was originally scheduled to be Del Rio's on screen 'Advocate'.

This would have coincided with a main event run, possibly even one that eventually had Del Rio turning babyface. It wasn't to be however, and Del Rio was put into the directionless League Of Nations faction instead. Things could have turned out very different, had WWE stuck to the idea of Del Rio becoming a 'Paul Heyman Guy'.

As it turns out, less than a year after his return Del Rio is pretty much gone from the promotion.
