10 Wrestling Facts We Didn't Know Last Week (13 March)
8. Steve Lombardi Never Looked At Himself As Enhancement Talent
Incredibly, Steve Lombardi has worked with WWE since 1983, and has worked under a number of different guises ever since. Most notably, Lombardi played the part of The Brooklyn Brawler, a character which became known by fans as one only there to make others looks good, relied on by management to help bed inexperienced newcomers into the promotion. Lombardi's tasks behind the scenes have also led to him becoming a road agent, responsible for liaising with talent and helping plan matches. The Brawler isn't the only gimmick the guy has played, he's also briefly been Doink The Clown, went under a mask as Kim Chee (Kamala's handler), and played the part of Abe 'Knuckleball' Schwartz, also known as Most Valuable Player. During a recent interview, Lombardi was quizzed on his status over the years with WWE, but remarked that he never viewed himself as "enhancement talent", instead knowing that any role with the company must be important if they choose to keep you around for such a long time. In a nice touch, the man stated he only had one goal in life, to secure long-term employment, and he's managed to do that.
