10 Wrestling Facts We Didn't Know Last Week (13 Sept)
6. 205 Live Weigh-Ins Caused Havoc With Formatting
TJ Perkins' retro video game character failed to hit with WWE fans a few years ago, but no-one can deny the Cruiserweight's obvious in-ring skills. Besides, his WWE departure means he can tell juicy stories like the one he served up on Wrestling Inc's podcast this week.
WWE take 205 Live very seriously.
The weigh-ins they hold before tapings are a shoot, and are so serious that wrestlers aren't able to work matches on the show if they come in at 206lbs (for example). The 205 gimmick is real to WWE; Perkins was there to see just how real when several workers were whipped from cards because they'd failed to hit the correct weight.
The funny thing here is that no fan watching would've been able to tell that a worker was over 205lbs. The promotion's dedication to the show's name meant that cards were constantly shuffled around hours before they happened when TJ was there.
