1. Bob Backlund Thought Jimmy Snuka Was An Embarrassment
According to Bob Backlund, Jimmy 'Superfly' Snuka would have been WWF Heavyweight Champion had he not been such an "embarrassment" outside of the ring. For Backlund, appearing like a true athlete at all times was crucial to someone's success. Bob was a classic babyface champion, someone fans could rely on to always work hard, tell the truth and do his best to succeed. Meanwhile, Snuka was partial to a party. Even though he had a mind-blowing physique, 'Superfly' irked Bob Backlund, because the latter didn't think his peer was serious about about his job. The pair worked together on occasion, and Backlund does note that Snuka was amazing inside the ring. It was away from arenas that Backlund had a problem with his co-worker. During a recent shoot interview, Bob Backlund outright said that Jimmy Snuka would have been handed a run with the World Title in the 1980's, but he wasn't reliable enough. It's awe-inspiring to hear someone with the lineage of Snuka being talked about in this manner. Recently, his name has been linked to a police investigation, but Backlund says the wrestler was reckless and embarrassing for years. What other wrestling facts did you learn this week?
