9. WWE Decided Against Big Retirement For Christian
In the Summer of 2014, WWE instructed announcers to start referring to Christian's career in the past tense. This was confusing to fans, who had last seen the Canadian in the Intercontinental Title mix. During that run, he suffered a major concussion, which would eventually be the proverbial straw that broke the camel's back. Since then, Christian has not wrestled in the company. The man has made several appearances a non-wrestling role for WWE. On a few occasions, he was part of the pre-Pay-Per-View 'Kickoff' panel, and has shown up occasionally with Adam 'Edge' Copeland on television. In December, 2014, Edge and Christian were guest hosts for one episode of Raw. Unprompted, Jerry 'The King' Lawler noted on commentary that Christian was retired. In interviews, the wrestler said this wasn't true. This week, WWE moved his profile to the alumni section of their roster pages. As if that wasn't enough, the wording used on his profile said he wasn't an active competitor any longer. There was no big retirement angle for Christian, which is baffling. Surely, the long-standing star deserved something, and the chance to say goodbye to his fans?
