10 Wrestling Facts We Didn't Know Last Week (25 Oct)
6. The Exact Moment Kane Knew He'd Succeed
If someone had told you that The Undertaker's kayfabe brother would go on to become a successful politician, you'd have laughed harder than those Minneapolis fans did at Sean Waltman. Still, that's what happened, and Glenn Jacobs is fully aware how much WWE stardom did to raise his public profile.
Perhaps he wouldn't be Mayor of Knox County, Tennessee had his next go-around flopped in 1997.
There were few certainties for Jacobs when he pulled on the mask and started playing Kane in October of that year. He'd already tanked as Isaac Yankem and a cheap Diesel rip off, and the Kane character could easily have suffered the same fate. It didn't though, and Jacobs knew he'd be alright immediately.
He told KHQA that he was quietly confident as soon as he made his entrance at the Badd Blood pay-per-view and stared down 'Taker face-to-face. Somehow, voices inside his head soothed him into knowing he'd get a good run out of the character. Nice one.
