For years, there's been a rumour that former World Champion boxer, Lennox Lewis, was offered a huge sum of money to fight current WWE star Brock Lesnar for real back in 2002. The scrap was doomed once the Brit learned that the future UFC Heavyweight Champion wouldn't be asked to wear gloves throughout, something Lewis wanted no part of.

This week, the boxer confirmed that the story wasn't merely an explosive rumour, saying the sum of money he was offered was as high as £5 million. This remains a strange one, because Brock Lesnar was under contract to WWE throughout 2002, and it seems strange that they'd be willing to let their sure fire future World Champion fight in such a scenario, but according to Lewis, it was genuinely discussed.

Who knows how the bout would have transpired, but it seems logical that the fight would have been a boxing match, because that's the British star's main strength. If it had been an MMA-style contest, for example, Lesnar would have likely come out on top, given his wider range of fighting styles. £5 million for one fight, what an incredible amount of money.
