Tito Santana has revealed before that he was in line for a major push to the top of the WWF tree in the early-90's. According to Santana, it was a toss-up whether or not the company were going to expand into Mexico or Canada, but the latter was chosen. Due to this, Bret Hart was finally given the nod over Tito, and pushed into main events.

Throughout his entire WWF run from 1979-1993, Tito Santana never once filled the role of heel on television. Instead, he was always a smiling, happy-go-lucky babyface that fans adored, right up till his last appearances for the company. Remarkably, Santana wanted to turn rogue several times, but Vince McMahon wouldn't let him.

One original plan following the split of the man's 'Strike Force' team with Rick Martel called for Santana to be the villain. Getting cold feet over the idea, McMahon kept Tito as the face, turning Martel into the egotistical 'Model'. It's impossible to imagine a wrestler having such longevity nowadays and always staying babyface.
