7. Joel Gertner Almost Left ECW With The Dudleyz

The Dudley Boyz are WWE Hall Of Famers, multi-time champions and one of the most well-remembered tag-teams of the entire Attitude era. It's unlikely that would've changed had their old ECW manager come along for the WWF/WWE ride with them.

It almost happened.

On Josh Shernoff's 'So Says Shernoff' show, former ECW colour man (and all-round sexual tyrannosaur) Joel Gertner revealed that he was actually in talks with the WWF about being part of the Dudley package. In fact, Joel scrapped any chance of a jump by signing a fresh ECW deal that'd make him the co-anchor of Paul Heyman's TV show on TNN.

Gertner doesn't have any regrets about his decision, and he's refreshingly honest about the chance of a tempting WWF switch falling through. There were zero guarantees that Vince McMahon's organisation would've taken him with Bubba-Ray and D-Von anyway, so Joel is happy he got to back up Joey Styles as a silver-tongued colour commentator.
