10 Wrestling Facts We Didn't Know Last Week (6 March)

9. Alundra Blayze In WWE Hall Of Fame

A few cynical fans have been pointing fingers at the fact Debra Miceli has been announced as the latest inductee into the WWE Hall Of Fame, feeling it comes a little too hot on the heels of comments made against the promotion by AJ Lee. Realistically, the decision to induct Miceli, who competed as Alundra Blayze in the company, was likely made some time ago. Blazing a trail (pun intended) through the WWF of the mid-90's, Vince McMahon really tried with the Blayze character, but would ultimately release Miceli in 1995, whereby she headed back to her old stomping ground of WCW, competing as Madusa. There are likely far more women worthy of the honour in wrestling history, but Blayze was treated pretty seriously during her reigns as WWF Women's Champion, memorably facing the likes of Bull Nakano in big matches on Pay-Per-View. Far more competitive than most female bouts aired on WWE television nowadays, Blayze and Nakano had some hard-hitting matches which are fondly remembered.
