Before Netflix got their hands on it and turned the show into a serial smash hit, the name 'GLOW' was a laughing stock in wrestling circles. It's certainly the last place one would've seen real pros like Awesome Kong ply their trade; anyone who loves Kong's work should be tickled by her casting today.

It's easy to imagine everyone thought it was 'Wooooooo-eful' back in the 80s too.

In an interview with Wrestling Inc, GLOW creator David McLane told how he was approached by none other than Ric Flair one day in the locker room. Despite his status as a serious pro wrestler who toured the globe as World Champ, the 'Nature Boy' was oddly starstruck and admitted to Dave that he watched the show whenever he could in hotel rooms across the country.

That wasn't a conversation McLane expected to have, especially with someone like Flair. Ric was only too happy to tell the GLOW founder that he should be proud of trying something so creative and unique, and that he shouldn't listen to critics.
