10 Wrestling Facts We Didn't Know Last Week (April 10)
4. AJ Lee's Retirement Linked To CM Punk Lawsuit
It's fair to say that AJ Lee's 'retirement' from in-ring competition with WWE came as quite the surprise to many. Occurring shortly after WrestleMania 31, a lot of people were shocked by a company announcement which thanked AJ for all her hard work, but expressed sorrow that she had decided to stop actively wrestling for the promotion. AJ is still under contract, but fresh details have been leaked this week regarding why the Diva came to the decision she did. When CM Punk departed WWE early last year, his later appearance on Colt Cabana's podcast revealed that he didn't exactly think highly of one WWE doctor, Chris Amann. Making a variety of claims against the professionalism of the medic, Punk would then be sued by Amann for defamation, along with Cabana. News this week suggests that AJ Lee's decision to step away from the ring is directly due to that ongoing lawsuit. It seems this woman is standing by her man, rightly or wrongly, and it's probably accurate to guess that her frosty relationship with Stephanie McMahon won't be helping her standing within the company going forward. Is this the end of AJ Lee for good in WWE, or is there a road back?
