Speaking of fun, that's what D-Generation X represented when Triple H, Shawn Michaels and Chyna linked up in 1997. Their brash banter, sexual innuendos and rebellious behaviour pushed the envelope like few before them, and it raised the ire of TV execs over at the USA Network so much that they sent letters warning Vince McMahon to behave.

That, according to Triple H's interview with TV Guide this week, is when DX went too far.

They popularised the crotch chop, letting opponents know in no uncertain terms to "Suck It" when they made the gesture. This was all too much for McMahon, and he pulled Triple H into a quiet corner and threatened to fire him and others if he didn't stop it. That heat from the boss let the degenerate trio know they were doing something right.

Eventually, Vince got on board with their controversial antics and promised to smooth things over with USA. DX were suddenly free to push the boundaries even further, and crotch-chopping became a cultural phenomenal rather than a taboo act.
