Kofi Kingston is as unlikely a WWE Champion as the modern era has crowned. Don't forget that he wasn't initially part of the Gauntlet that helped turn him into a sensation on the 12 February SmackDown, Ali was. His injury paved the way for Kofi to breathe new life into his career and start the road to 'Mania madness.

None of that would have happened had he quit back in 2014 shortly before The New Day became a thing.

On Booker T's podcast, Kingston confessed that he was feeling pretty low about things before teaming up with Big E and Xavier Woods. Nothing he was doing in matches or on the mic seemed to matter. Kofi was stuck in a rut, and he didn't know how much longer he could stomach being overlooked as others romped up the card towards main event success.

He described that period as "repetitive" and "boring", claimed it was the "lowest point" of his career and said he very-nearly decided to throw in the towel and do something else with his life. Thank God that didn't happen, because Kofi's push has been refreshing, fun and emotional.
