It's fair to assume that things were a bit testy behind the scenes at WrestleMania 34. Following the event, reports surfaced that Brock Lesnar had a fiery encounter with Vince McMahon backstage, and both parties had been going back-and-forth on the main event's finish for several days.

Meanwhile, Roman Reigns was left out of the conversation and only found out what was happening the day of 'Mania.

Dave Meltzer claimed on Wrestling Observer Radio that Reigns was under the impression he'd be winning the Universal Title when he arrived at the Mercedes-Benz SuperDome. Somewhere along the line, plans changed, and Lesnar ended up going over instead.

That would have come as a shock to Roman. This was going to be his moment, a time when he could finally beat Brock on WWE's biggest show of the year and cement his status as Raw's top dog. Even though that looked to be on the cards for months beforehand, it didn't happen.
