10 Wrestling Facts We Didn't Know Last Week (April 1)
2. Luna Vachon And Sable Nearly Traded Backstage Blows In The WWF
It's been said before that Sable wasn't the most popular figure behind-the-scenes in the WWF during the mid-to-late-1990's.
Of course, a lot of that is simply rumour, and only those who were behind the curtain in the promotion can say for sure. On the most recent episode of the Jim Ross podcast, Marc Mero and the announcer discussed the matter.
At WrestleMania XIV, Mero teamed with Sable to take on both Goldust and Luna Vachon in mixed tag action. The bout was actually very well worked, and it seemed like everyone concerned was on the same page.
As it turns out, that wasn't the case. Backstage, Sable and Luna rarely saw things on the same level, and that fact nearly led to a physical fight between the pair on more than one occasion.
Talking to JR, Mero revealed that he had been forced to step in when things threatened to get out of hand. One time, he was a little too late to proceedings, and the duo were already about to get violent. None of that animosity shone through on camera and the matches involving the pair were professional.
