Several knee injuries slowed Rey Mysterio's WWE career significantly towards the end of his run, and it became clear that the iconic masked man wasn't the same dynamic performer he had been during his peak a decade before.

Long before he was suffering any pain in his legs though, the high-flyer received some key advice from a well-meaning friend who wished to see Rey extend his career.

Appearing on The Ross Report podcast with Jim Ross, the former WWE Champion revealed that Eddie Guerrero pulled him aside behind the scenes and warned him to drastically change his in-ring style. Specifically, Guerrero wanted Mysterio to slow down between the ropes and start wrestling smart rather than to wow live crowds.

Rey decided to heed that advice, and focused more on telling stories than working eye-popping spots and sequences during his matches. Although damage had already been done to Mysterio's knees, it was smart of Eddie to look out for his friend.
