At first, this entry was going to be titled, 'Brutus Beefcake Wanted To Be A Baseball Player'. Then, we started digging deeper into his interview with Sports Illustrated and found out something way more fun instead. Back when he was pitched his famous 'Barber' gimmick in the 80s, Beefcake thought it was ridiculous and contemplated turning it down.

That's when Hulk Hogan stepped in.

He was the one who suggested that Brutus give it a try, and he also came up with the garden shears gimmick on top of that. Still, Beefcake was unwilling to budge. It wasn't until Hulk sold him on the idea of knocking heels out with a Sleeper hold before cutting their hair that Brutus started to see what his friend was saying.

If it wasn't for Hogan, Beefcake would've turned the idea down flat and moved on to something else. In the end, it was Hulk's intervention that saved the day and kickstarted a Hall Of Fame career. He had to practically beg his pal to try it on for size.
