André The Giant's heel turn on Hulk Hogan and alliance with Ted DiBiase came as a massive shock to fans at the time, and their feud eventually led the WWF to vacate the WWF Title and crown Randy Savage champion at WrestleMania IV.

That may not have happened, had one of Bruce Prichard's earlier pitches gone through.

Right before Andre tangled with Hulk at The Main Event on NBC in February 1988, Prichard, speaking on his 'Something To Wrestle With' podcast, said he popped an almighty "what if?" question: what if Andre turned his back on that union with the Million Dollar Man, returned to playing babyface and ended up feuding with DiBiase over the Summer of '88 instead?

Bruce's reason for the backup story had everything to do with the big man's health. It was becoming increasingly clear that Andre's in-ring career was close to being over. To the WWF, such an iconic figure needed to go out as a face, and though it seemed logical he'd spurn DiBiase's money-grabbing ways, Vince McMahon wanted to wait a while on the turn.
