He also wanted Chris Jericho vs. CM Punk to run just five minutes at WrestleMania XXVIII more than 24 years later.

Vince's big plan for the grudge match was to insert a disqualification stipulation (which happened) and have Punk ruin his own WWE Title reign by ignoring the referee so he could beat on Jericho. In McMahon's mind, Punk should have been so incensed by Y2J's disparaging remarks about his family in the build that he wouldn't care about the rules.

Although Jericho could understand where his boss was coming from, he wholeheartedly disagreed that the match last five minutes, have a screwy DQ finish or that Punk lose his title. To Jericho, his heelish antics had to be thrown back in his face with a clean submission loss.

It took a bit of back and forth between both sides before Jericho was able to convince McMahon that his way was best. Come bell time, the title match lasted over 22 minutes and had that satisfying babyface conclusion Jericho had been looking for.
