Once they'd patched things up and become friendly, Vince McMahon and Sgt. Slaughter started travelling together on the road. One evening, Vince confided in Sarge that he'd always wanted to be a wrestler but his father wouldn't let him. He longed to take bumps and hear the roar of a passionate crowd from inside the ring.

Slaughter came up with a plan.

He pitched that McMahon pull on a mask (hopefully one more convincing than the crude graphic accompanying this entry) and work a match with him on a small spot show. Vince loved the rebellion of the idea, and he agreed. Suddenly, unbeknownst to his dad, Vinnie Jr. was a generic masked babyface working one of the territories biggest heels.

Slaughter admitted to Wrestling News that the match sucked and he didn't have a ton of fun trying to pull Vince through spots. Still, they got it done and McMahon lapped up the adulation from a crowd who didn't have a clue who he was.
