10 Wrestling Facts We Didn't Know Last Week (Dec 18)

2. Kurt Angle Felt Offended When Bret Hart Wrestled Vince McMahon

Recently, there's been a lot of talk about the prospect of Kurt Angle returning to the WWE fold. The veteran performer has been coy about the idea, and says he is instead focused on finishing his run with TNA. There are suggestions that January's tour of the UK will be Angle's last with the promotion. One of the biggest dream matches fans have missed out on over the years is Kurt Angle vs. Bret Hart. Speaking to Ring Rust Radio this week, the Olympic Gold Medal winner said that he and Hart had previously spoken about making the match happen. Obviously, the Canadian's health problems have been a major reason for why it didn't occur, but the timing was also off. When Kurt Angle was part of the WWE system, Bret Hart was still on frosty terms with the promotion. Nonetheless, Angle had hoped to face Hart someday, feeling if Bret ever had another match it would be against him. By his own admission, Kurt was offended when Hart returned to WWE and faced Vince McMahon at WrestleMania XXVI. Afterwards, the pair had a discussion, and Bret told his friend that he couldn't bump. He only took the bout with Vince because he wouldn't have to resemble the 'old Bret Hart'. If he was ever to wrestle Kurt Angle, he wanted to be his old self.
