10 Wrestling Facts We Didn't Know Last Week (Dec 18)

6. DDP Handed Goldberg 14-Page Script For WCW Match

Incredibly, a lot of fans watching live on pay-per-view didn't even see most of Diamond Dallas Page vs. Goldberg at WCW's Halloween Havoc 1998 event. Due to the fact that Warrior vs. Hollywood Hogan had gone long in the co-main event slot, providers cut the feed on the show. Customers were incensed, which forced WCW to re-air the bout in full the next night on Nitro. SportingNews.com ran a story on Bill Goldberg this week, and it included comments from the man himself about his career. When discussing the match against DDP, Goldberg remarked that it was far and away his best match ever. Crediting Page for how well the contest was received, Goldberg said it was no accident he never put in a performance like that again. Before the match, DDP wanted to run some ideas by Goldberg for things they could do. The relative rookie was expecting a conversation about the match, but was stunned when Page handed him a full 14-page script outlining the affair from start to finish. That was something Goldberg wasn't used to, but shows the preparation of DDP and how determined he was to steal the show.
