10 Wrestling Facts We Didn't Know Last Week (Dec 22)
Find out how different one of WWE's greatest 'Mania moments almost was...
Uh oh: it looks like the XFL is on the comeback trail, if Vince McMahon's recent WWE stock activity is anything to go by.
Nobody could have predicted that McMahon would revive one of his biggest failures in 2018, but it seems set to happen. The mere thought should fill older fans with horror when casting minds back to 2001.
That's when the letters XFL were shoved into our faces the most, only to then disappear off the face of the earth, like they'd never even existed, later the same year. WWE's attempt to cut a slice of the NFL's pie was a flop, and it vanished quickly. So quickly, in fact, that even the league's players weren't told face-to-face that they wouldn't be needed any longer.
Find out how the XFL's biggest stars were informed of the league's closure in this week's article, along with a whole host of other wrestling-related facts we didn't know last week. Oh, and just count yourselves lucky that Vinnie Mac didn't decide to dig up the WBF instead of his football project.
Stop shuddering, and enjoy the facts...
10. Alexa Bliss Has Broken Charlotte's Raw Title Record
As of Wednesday, Alexa Bliss can boast the longest single reign as Raw Women's Champion yet. Bliss has surpassed Charlotte Flair's previous record of 113 days from April 3 until July 25, 2016, and her run with the red belt shows no sign of stopping due to the ongoing hype surrounding the first ever Women's Royal Rumble hogging the spotlight.
Coincidentally, both Alexa and Charlotte are still the only two women in WWE to have held both the Raw and SmackDown Women's Titles to date. Now, it's Bliss who can boast the longest reign in the hot seat, although her combined 110 days as the blue brand champ across two reigns were blown out of the water by Naomi's 140 days straight with the title.
Flair and Asuka are considered WWE's best female workers, but Bliss has quietly gone about her business on both major brands and is now a record-breaking champion. To put things into perspective, her previous reign on Raw was 112 days - and was still a lot longer than those enjoyed by Sasha Banks or Bayley.
