10 Wrestling Facts We Didn't Know Last Week (Dec 24)
9. Jeff Jarrett Always Hated Terms Like 'Divas' And 'Knockouts'
Jeff Jarrett has worked everywhere from the WWF and WCW, and his career even stretches back to the territory days of pro wrestling. In 2002, Jarrett was a huge part of helping found TNA, but he has since cut most of his ties with the upstart promotion he helped build. Now, the man's focus is on making Global Force Wrestling a successful brand, and it seems women's wrestling will play a role in that. Speaking to the World According To Wrestling this week, Jeff said that he feels significant steps must be taken in order to make female wrestling a more viable entity. One of Jarrett's most-remembered runs was alongside Debra McMichael in the WWF during the 'Attitude Era'. Debra's character was based on giving male fans something to ogle, and she helped kick start the whole 'Diva' concept in the company. Apparently, that's something Jarrett always disliked. Even into his run with TNA, the guy didn't like the name 'Knockouts' either. In his words, this limits how credible women's wrestling can be. GFW will soon introduce their own championship for females, and Jarrett is determined it will be called nothing other than a Women's Title.
