It's well-know that Kurt Angle was in attendance at an ECW event on October 26, 1996. There, the Olympic Gold Medal winner was left incensed by an incident involving both The Sandman and Raven. Binding Sandman to a crude cross, the insinuation was that Raven had crucified his arch nemesis.

Horrified, Angle left the building and Raven was later sent out by Paul Heyman to apologise for his actions. Talking to The Whig this past week, The Sandman gave his firm belief that everyone - including Angle - had overreacted to the plot device. The hardcore performer didn't see anything wrong with the suggested depiction of Jesus Christ on the cross.

Speaking with Raven behind the scenes, Sandman told his peer that he'd have to be crazy to go out in front of fans, break character and say sorry for what had happened. It appears Sandman wouldn't have been willing to do the same thing, because he says people were blowing the incident out of proportion.

Had the shoe been on the other foot and Sandman been the aggressor, it seems there wouldn't have been any apology.
