The nWo remains one of the best things WCW ever came up with. Dripping in cool, the renegade faction turned the company from a money-losing operation into something Eric Bischoff could crow to Ted Turner's executives about. It wasn't viewed as a WCW saviour by some in the locker room however.

Booker T said on the Sam Roberts Wrestling podcast that he was skeptical the New World Order would benefit WCW. In fact, Booker worried the nWo's popularity might kill wrestling. After all, they were supposed to be the heels and yet received louder cheers than most on the WCW side.

That didn't sit well with Booker, and there was another reason he didn't like the idea.

To Booker T, Bischoff's decision to have Hulk Hogan front the faction made it impossible for fans to dislike it. Overnight, Hulk turned into one of the most bad-ass characters in wrestling, and that (to Booker) undermined his new heel status at the time.
