Shelton Benjamin's rental car incident was widely reported by mainstream news outlets when it broke. Finding a loaded gun in the glove department of his rental from Budget Rental Car last week came as quite a shock to the SmackDown star, but he was more worried about calling the police than anything else.

Benjamin believed police might think the gun was his.

In Shelton's own words, a "big black guy" with a gun in his car would not look good to officers, and that's why he was initially hesitant about contacting them. Shelton told TMZ he had genuine fears that police wouldn't even listen to his story and might just arrest him on the spot instead.

That didn't happen, though cops did tell Benjamin that they see this sort of thing all the time. Was that sort of statement supposed to put him at ease? If so, it didn't work. Shelton is still waiting to hear back from Budget about the frightening episode.
