Buff Bagwell could never be blamed for lacking self-belief. In WCW, he was 'Buff Daddy', and he had the 'stuff' that'd make girls go wild. His overt, in-your-face character seemed like it'd be perfect for Vince McMahon's WWF when the company consumed his contract in 2001.

It wasn't. Buff's WWF experience was a horror show.

Booker T was his first opponent on the 2 July episode of Raw, and the match failed to impress McMahon. Booker appeared on the Notsam Wrestling Podcast to give some insight into what he was thinking before going through the curtain. Backstage, a brash Bagwell loudly told Pat Patterson he didn't have to worry about him getting over, because he already was.

That made Book cringe, and he had an inkling right then the pair might struggle. His approach was different; Booker believed he'd be better off keeping his mouth shut and letting his in-ring work do the talking.
