The success of Cody Rhodes in TNA, WCPW and elsewhere has been great to watch for wrestling fans; Cody is visibly having fun again, something the man himself admitted was lacking during the final stretch of his WWE run.

Opening up during prior interviews, the frustration of Rhodes shone through as he discussed wanting to shed the Stardust gimmick and work as himself again in the company. This wasn't something that appealed to WWE, because the creative team believed Stardust was a character Cody should play full-time.

Talking with Total Wrestling Magazine though, Cody did reveal discussions with WWE which would have led to him working on both Raw and SmackDown following the brand split.

On one show, the Stardust gimmick would remain intact, contrasting beautifully with Cody's work as his real-life self on the other brand; this may have placated Rhodes and stopped him from growing more disheartened by the hokey Stardust gimmick, one he believed had outlived any usefulness.

Cody claims he wouldn't have minded pulling double duty, but the talks unfortunately stalled before he left the promotion completely.
