The list of names that could (and in the minds of some fans, should) have entered WWE's Cruiserweight Classic tournament last year is lengthy. Just as they did with the United Kingdom Championship tournament, though, WWE decided to pick only a handful of genuine stars they could focus on.

Ricochet was not amongst those names, although he did reveal to Sean Waltman during the veteran's X-Pac 1, 2, 360 podcast that he had been in contact with the company in the Summer of 2016. Talks ultimately led to nothing, and any attempts to lure Ricochet into the CWC proved fruitless.

During the very same interview, Ricochet stated his main objective, should he ever sign a WWE contract. Asked about the Cruiserweight Title by Waltman, one of wrestling's most exciting high-flyers claimed he would be more interested in following the same path guys as guys like Finn Balor and Kevin Owens.

Specifically, Ricochet would love to become NXT Champion and push that particular brand forward. It must be noted that Ricochet glossed over any notions of moving straight to the main roster when talking to Waltman.
