10 Wrestling Facts We Didn't Know Last Week (Feb 6)

10. Total Non-Stop Ageing?

Right off the bat, one interesting story to come out this week is that the demographic for TNA's Friday Night Impact Wrestling broadcasts is a lot older than the audience previously had been for the company. On average, the ages of people watching the show on Friday nights falls between 40-50 years old, which is interesting. Is this a sign of exactly who TNA should be aiming their product at, or is it simply co-incidence due to the timing of when the TV show airs? WWE played before a similar demographic when Smackdown aired on Friday nights, which draws conclusions that older wrestling fans are more willing to watch on weekends, yet younger ones are less prone to watching wrestling television when they could be out with friends. Of course, this feeds the stereotype of young people going out every single weekend, but it's nonetheless intriguing, and something Dixie Carter and company should certainly think about. Historically, WCW played before an older audience than the WWF, and it's not necessarily a bad thing. Having a way to distance themselves from being WWE-lite would be ideal for TNA, and targeting this older demographic could be a smart move. Or, the entire thing could be co-incidence - either way, at least people are watching!
