It felt like lazy booking when Ted DiBiase Jr started carrying around his dad's old Million Dollar Title and became a 'privileged son' in 2010. Ted was hot off a run in Legacy alongside Randy Orton and Cody Rhodes, but WWE's creative powers decreed he should act like a shell of his father's Million Dollar Man gimmick.

This modern update of the classic character was doomed to fail from the start, and that's something DiBiase Jr could see before it even happened. When Ted caught wind of WWE's plans post-WrestleMania XXVI, he pleaded with the writers not to ruin his potential with such a second-rate idea.

His appeal fell on deaf ears.

DiBiase Jr told WrestleZone this week that he never wanted the Million Dollar belt in the first place. He made sure to say this wasn't a slight on his old man though; to Ted, the son-of-a-millionaire gimmick was boring, obvious and a step backwards from being in Legacy.
