It once seemed that every time WWE had backed themselves into a storyline corner, they turned to Hornswoggle as a last-minute solution. Older fans will remember he was outed as the 'Anonymous Raw GM' and as Vince McMahon's illegitimate son. It's the 2007 angle that had most palming their own foreheads.

The original plan fell through when Ken Kennedy was suspended for violating WWE's Wellness Policy. Creative panicked and shoved WWE's resident leprechaun into the spotlight instead of Kennedy. Despite knowing the angle wouldn't be as big a success, officials were still worried that word would leak out before the segment aired.

Swoggle told the Pancakes & Powerslams Show that Bruce Prichard confiscated his phone backstage at Raw. Prichard was wary of anything posted on the internet that might give the game away before WWE's big reveal that night.

They should have been more concerned about the imminent backlash from fans.
