OK, bit of an Okerlund run going on here, but there were so many podcasts on the man's life and career this week that it's hard not to include these facts. Besides, this is another cracker.

Bruce Prichard said on 'Something To Wrestle With' that Gene Okerlund never actually enjoyed cutting promos with Randy Savage. That's mind-blowing to any long-time wrestling fan. Along with Hulk Hogan and Ric Flair, Savage is someone most-closely associated with the iconic backstage announcer's career.

It turns out that 'Mean' Gene liked to have fun during his lengthy promo sessions, and he wasn't very fond of Randy's relentless intensity. The 'Macho Man' would come armed with so much material that Gene sighed when it was time for him to tape his run of market-specific interviews. To Okerlund, it was more important to be loose and relaxed.

Randy didn't work that way. He was more inclined to make sure that every tiny detail was analysed, and Gene found that tedious.
