10 Wrestling Facts We Didn’t Know Last Week (Jan 29)

7. 2010 Was Kurt Angle€™s Favourite Year In TNA

Recently, Kurt Angle said that he wouldn't be discussing terms with WWE about a potential return. The ongoing TNA UK Tour is likely to be Angle's last with the promotion, as the former Olympic Gold Medal winner begins to wind down his full-time, active in-ring wrestling career. He can look back on a lengthy career crammed full of memorable moments. According to Angle's interview with WrestlingINC, TNA is in a healthy position right now. In the same breath, Kurt then said that he doesn't feel the company has been able to reach the heights it did in 2010. That year, Eric Bischoff and Hulk Hogan made a play to try and compete with WWE, even putting TNA Impact up against Monday Night Raw. In Kurt Angle's mind, 2010 was his best year in TNA. The 12 month period began with a stunning bout between Angle and AJ Styles at the Genesis pay-per-view, and also featured Angle in a Triple Threat match against Jeff Hardy and Mr. Anderson at Bound For Glory. This was treated as a 'Retirement Match' for Kurt (which obviously wasn't the case), but it seems he looks back on that time fondly.
