4. Kevin Fertig Thought WWE Network Would Pay Royalties
The WWE Network was launched in full on February 24, 2014 in the United States. Since then, the service has expanded across the globe, finally seeing a United Kingdom launch in January, 2015. The subsciption-only model allows fans access to pretty much every pay-per-view event in WWE, WCW and ECW history, along with original programming and every monthly PPV. In the mind of Kevin Fertig, the idea of royalties for the WWE Network is something that needs to be explored. As of right now, WWE apparently don't pay ex-performers any money for appearing on the service, which doesn't sit well with the man once known as Modecai and Kevin Thorn. He made his thoughts clear on the Two Man Power Trip Of Wrestling podcast. Fertig still receives a royalty cheque from WWE for DVD releases he featured on, but those have become minimal since the Network launched. Fans aren't buying WWE DVD sets in the same way they did before the advent of the Network. The wrestler thought that he would see money when WWE launched the service, but notes he hasn't yet seen a penny despite his characters being visible on the streaming package.
