Years before he was representing Donald Trump at WrestleMania 23 or cavorting with Lana on Raw, Bobby Lashley was viewed as a meathead rookie in WWE. Back in 2004, he told Sports Illustrated that the general consensus was that Bob had a good look and nothing between the ears.

Paul Heyman was the only one who tapped into the man behind the muscles. One morning, Lashley's phone lit up and Heyman asked if he'd like to grab some breakfast. They'd never really talked or hung out before, so Bobby was surprised, but intrigue got the better of him and he agreed to meet Paul E for some food.

They ended up chatting in-depth about Lashley's life and motivations for four hours.

Bobby was still an OVW newcomer at the time, and he thinks that Heyman wanted to get to know his personality so he could book him better. That's smart, and it shows how deep the Raw writer goes to figure out talent.
