10 Wrestling Facts We Didn't Know Last Week (July 12)

Kevin Owens was the chosen beneficiary of Finn Bálor's injury misfortune one week prior when he won the Universal Title on the 29 August 2016 edition of Raw. After beating Big Cass, Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins (with a bit of help from Triple H) in a Fatal-4-Way, KO fell the canvas with ecstasy etched all over his face.

The fun stopped quickly after that. The title reign brought Owens crashing back down to earth.

On Lilian Garcia's 'Chasing Glory' show, KO admitted he didn't enjoy his reign as Raw's World Champ at all. In fact, his wife noticed how miserable he was at home and questioned why when he'd worked so hard to get that kind of distinction. Owens couldn't put his finger on it either, but he did feel things should've been booked totally differently.

By the time he dropped the strap to Goldberg at Fastlane 2017, Kevin was over being Universal Champion. That's amazing to find out, and it makes revisiting matches like KO vs. Seth Rollins at Clash Of Champions and Hell In A Cell, as well as KO vs. Roman Reigns at Roadblock 2016, more poignant.
