10 Wrestling Facts We Didn't Know Last Week (July 28)
8. Asuka Is Close To Topping Rockin' Robin's Record
On August 17, NXT Women's Champion Asuka will surpass former WWF Women's Champ Rockin' Robin as the longest-reigning female titleholder in WWE. Robin's reign lasted 502 days (October 7, 1988 until the title was deactivated on February 21, 1990) and remains the lengthiest post-Fabulous Moolah reign in modern WWE history.
Asuka bagged the NXT Women's Title at NXT TakeOver: Dallas on April 1, 2016. Coming close to Rockin' Robin's record isn't the only milestone for the Japanese star either; according to PWInsider, Asuka has passed Demolition's 478-day stint with the WWF World Tag-Team Titles and will soon pass The New Day's 483-day reign on July 29.
Neither of those records are as relevant as the WWF Women's Title one though, because Robin's reign came with a female championship. This record-shattering moment has flown under the radar for Asuka. She's close to becoming WWE's longest-reigning Women's Champ in over 27 years.
