10 Wrestling Facts We Didn't Know Last Week (June 10)
3. Brian Gewirtz Was Taken To Wrestler's Court Due To Edge & Christian
Over the years, wrestling fans have heard all about the mysterious wrestler's court. There, WWE employees are tried by their peers for various 'crimes', but it's not something exclusive to actual in-ring talent. That's something former Monday Night Raw head writer Brian Gewirtz found out the hard way back in 2001.
Shortly after WrestleMania X-Seven, Gewirtz was pulled in front of the kangaroo court (and The Undertaker, acting as the judge on this occasion) to stand trial. His 'crime' had been supposedly accepting bribes from Edge and Christian in return for writing them onto television more. Gewirtz even seemed incredulous when recanting the story to Chris Jericho on his Talk Is Jericho podcast.
Even Vince McMahon wished him luck, whereas others advised him to bring pizza and beer as a token gesture for the court. As if that's not ridiculous enough, Bob Holly and Sean Waltman had to be physically restrained by Kane to stop them lashing out at the writer.
Found guilty, the creative team member had to pen an essay on why he loved the industry, which he later handed to Undertaker.
