9. Matt Morgan Was Almost In The 2014 Royal Rumble

During a sit-down chat with the wonderfully personable Chris Van Vliet, Matt Morgan revealed how he spoke up for himself when Vince McMahon pitched his stutter gimmick in 2005. Confused that WWE would take such a well-spoken dude and turn him into a blithering moron, Morgan said he'd do his best with the idea.

He did, and it still failed.

After recovering his fortunes in TNA, Morgan was eventually released in 2013 and found himself looking for his next gig. That's when WWE peeked around the corner and asked if Matt would like to be a surprise entrant in the 2014 Royal Rumble. He said yes and began training for his re-debut in the company. Then, Morgan's son was born on 7 January and he changed his mind.

Morgan's main priority was now fatherhood, not a one-off cameo that might/might not lead to a full-time WWE return. The big man informed WWE of his decision and he was removed from the match. Look on the bright side. Maybe his spot went to El Torito...
