Currently, The New Day are riding high as the reigning WWE Tag-Team Champions. Whenever the trio are on screen together, they really seem to be having a blast, something Xavier Woods attributes to their real-life friendships behind the scenes. Speaking to The Phoenix New Times to promote upcoming WWE events, Woods insisted that New Day isn't contrived.

Instead, Woods, Kofi Kingston and Big E simply go out each week to be themselves. They're over the top, naturally, but Xavier refuted claims that The New Day is even a gimmick, saying it's more like good buddies having a giggle on live television.

Going further, he explained that this is why they're able to connect with fans easily, because people recognise the whole thing is organic and far from forced. Ideas such as dressing up like Dragon Ball Z characters, or introducing a fake breakfast cereal, are all simply created to keep them entertained.

It's fascinating to learn that The New Day themselves are responsible for many of the nuances the group exhibit on screen, especially because the original concept of the team was built around a strict gimmick.
