10 Wrestling Facts We Didn't Know Last Week (June 30)

2. Jerry Lawler Was Paid $130,000 For His WrestleMania XXVII Match

It's crazy to look back on WrestleMania XXVII and realise that a match between two announcers was given almost 15 minutes of ring time. In fact, if you add the entrances of Jerry 'The King' Lawler, Michael Cole and guest referee Steve Austin onto that, the segment actually ate up closer to 25 minutes of 'Mania time.

For The King, just having a match on WWE's biggest show of the year meant everything. Even though it was coming against Cole, this was still Lawler's first ever WrestleMania appearance as a wrestler. It wasn't the best, but Jerry still walked away with a huge sum of $130,000 for that one pay-per-view.

Lawler quoted that number on his Dinner With The King podcast this week, saying it was his biggest payday as a wrestler. How typical that it had to come in one of his dullest matches. Even the additions of Austin and Jack Swagger (as Cole's manager) couldn't help turn things around.
