It's been over four years now and Roman Reigns is still suffering the effects of his woeful "Sufferin' Succotash, son" promo on the 9 January 2015 SmackDown. A lot of fans view him through the same lens they did immediately after his cringeworthy line on that night's broadcast. It definitely hurt Roman's street cred.

Are you really stunned to learn that Vince McMahon thought it'd make him the man?

Jon Moxley told this story on Wade Keller's podcast, and conceded that he'd partly to blame for how cheesy the segment came across on TV. He was the one who suggested Roman look at the camera and wink to those watching, almost like he was clueing them in on how poorly-scripted the line was.

Reigns felt he had to do something, because he hated the idea. When he came out of Vince's office, he asked his buddy if there was a cool way to say "Sufferin' Succotash" on television in 2015. Moxley knew there wasn't, and that's why he tried to help by pitching the fourth wall break.
