It's pretty funny to think that The New Day is one gimmick that hasn't turned out anything like what Vince McMahon originally proposed. Reportedly, the boss wanted Xavier Woods, Kofi Kingston and Big E to act as a positive babyface influence on fans.

To their credit, the  trio knew this would fall flat in the modern era.

Taking the proverbial bull by the horns, they instead cultivated a heel persona that has progressed to becoming more and more ridiculous over time. Now, New Day can be found sporting 'unicorn horns', wearing gaudy outfits and cracking silly jokes.

According to one of the members, this is something he really enjoys doing.

Big E spoke with the Quad City Times about the group's success recently, and assessed that comedy was a big part of the reason why they have managed to sustain that success. Evolving into one of the most entertaining acts on WWE television isn't an accident, and the members wanted to make people smile.

In Big E's own words, he's only concerned with making people happy and entertaining them, because that's how he knows he has done his job.
