Tazz would never top his in-ring WWF debut against Kurt Angle at the 2000 Royal Rumble.

It was all downhill from there, and that's something the former ECW hard man himself realised when strolling down the aisle at Madison Square Garden. On Talk Is Jericho, Tazz admitted that a sudden wave of self-doubt came over him.

He had an epiphany, surveyed the scene and detected an underlying shred of unhappiness in the WWF that they hadn't built his character. ECW and Paul Heyman had, not Vince McMahon. Right there in the Garden, that suddenly struck Tazz as a problem he'd never overcome in the bigger company. Tazz was proven right, and it didn't take long.

Despite not being the spiritual sort who usually believes in epiphanies, he experienced one at the worst time imaginable. As soon as his match with Angle was over, Tazz knew deep down that he'd struggle in the WWF.
